Trygve Lie Symposium on Human Rights and the 2030 Agenda

This year’s Trygve Lie Symposium will bring together high-level government and UN officials, experts, and civil society representatives to discuss and address how the international community can promote and ensure the incorporation of human rights frameworks into the sustainable development agenda. Presentations will reflect on why having strong and inclusive political institutions that respect human rights is necessary for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) enshrined in the 2030 Agenda.

68th Annual UN Civil Society Conference

Informal consultations with States parties as well as UN partners and NGOs are a standard feature of the annual meeting of chairpersons. The objective of the consultation is to exchange views on relevant issues such as the upcoming 2020 review of the treaty body system.

Transnational Organized Crime and Drug Trafficking in the Caribbean Region as a Threat to International Stability

The event will consist of high-level panel discussion, followed by interventions from the co-hosts and by Security Council members. UN Member States and accredited civil society may also deliver brief remarks, time permitting. The meeting will focus on transnational organized crime, including illicit financial flows, trafficking in firearms and the significant increase of flows of narcotics, particularly from South and Central America through the Caribbean region.

Transforming the Energy Supply of Small Island Developing States and Other Coastal Communities with Utility-Level Electrical Power Generation from Ocean Waves – A Sustainable Development Innovation Multi-Stakeholder Partnership
