To mark the anniversary of the 1948 War and subsequent uprooting and mass displacement of Palestinians, known in Arabic as Al-Nakba (the Catastrophe) the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People (CEIRPP) will convene the two-day Forum “70 Years after 1948 – Lessons to Achieve a Sustainable Peace”. The Forum is open to the public and will also be streamed live through UN webcast.
The Forum is being organized in accordance with UN General Assembly resolutions 72/11 and 72/13 of 30 November 2017. It will bring together Palestinian, Israeli and international experts, representatives of the diplomatic community and civil society to highlight the need to substantively address issues related to the 1948 war and subsequent mass displacement and uprooting of Palestinians in the context of, and as vital for the success of, the efforts to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting settlement of the question of Palestine.
